I came across this story while I was on twitter after watching Michael Jordan’s ‘The Last Dance’ documentary on ESPN.
The headline initially sparked my interest because of the way the word hid that was in the title.
It seemed intersting to me that hidden was used as if the relationship was some big secret when really the bond between the two mega stars was no secret at all.
The documentary and article certainly showed the love the two players have shown to each other and even how Kobe Bryant attributes a lot of his success to Michael.
Ramona Shelburne has been one of my favorite beat writers for the Lakers and Los Angeles sports for as long as I can remeber and she always pulls me in with her angle on each story.
She has a brilliant mind for bringing a new side, a new idea to a story often over written.
In this specific article, her best portion is his her interview and quotes from the logo, Jerry West.
Jerry was a fixture in the life of Kobe Bryant as he was the one who told the Lakers franchise to trade for the 18-year-old kid out of Lower Merion high shcool.
Shelburne uses great quote from Jordan as well to tell an even more in depth feel of how close the two mega stars really were.
